An enchanting start to the Advent season
When the first lights begin to twinkle on Town Hall Square, a very special journey begins: visitors are transported into the enchanting world of the Advent season. For one afternoon, the Town Hall Square is transformed into a fairytale winter wonderland full of sparkling ice crystals, snowflakes and Christmas magic. Younger guests in particular can look forward to magical encounters, music, animal surprises featuring a reindeer, and a varied children’s programme.
The highlight of the evening: at 7.00 pm, the lights on the festively decorated Christmas tree will be officially switched on – a magical moment accompanied by a group countdown.
A programme featuring music and open-air dining:
From 3.00 pm – The fairy-tale characters have arrived!
Our winter fairy-tale characters will be parading across the Town Hall Square, meeting visitors and creating moments of surprise.
3.00–5.00 pm – Face painting for children
In the magical winter tent in the Town Hall cellar, children can have their faces painted to look like enchanting winter characters.
3.15 pm – Meet & Greet
Time for personal encounters, photos and little stories with the fairy-tale characters.
4.00 pm – A very special guest
The reindeer is coming! The fairy-tale characters are looking forward to his visit with great excitement. Of course, there’ll be time for some lovely souvenir photos.
5.00 pm – The fairy-tale characters are on the move again
Once more, they’ll be parading across the Town Hall Square as part of a walking act.
5.15 pm – Meet & Greet
Anyone who hasn’t yet met the fairy-tale characters will now have another chance to have their photo taken and meet them in the winter marquee.
6.30 pm Festive speeches and a special moment
Mayor Eveline Salzmann and ThunCity President Samuel Bleuer will welcome the audience and, together, switch on the new Christmas lights in the lower old town. This officially marks the start of the Christmas season in Thun.
6.45 pm – Musical surprise
The fairy-tale characters and the Ice Sisters will perform well-known songs from the enchanting world of winter.
7.00 pm – Countdown: The Christmas tree lights are switched on
The big moment: Together with the fairy-tale characters, the lights on the Christmas tree in Town Hall Square will be switched on in a festive ceremony.
8.00 pm – End of the event
