The Christmas Event 2025 will take place on Friday, November 14.
The Christmas Event Thun transforms Thun's city center into a festive sea of a thousand lights and officially heralds the start of Advent on Rathausplatz. All visitors experience a unique moment full of magic and anticipation in a unique atmosphere.
Program:
4:00 p.m. Start with music and children's program
Open-air catering: mulled wine, drinks, and food from Hotel Krone,
Ratsstübli, Atelier Classic Bar, and Mätt's Hüsi
7:00 p.m. Countdown: The Christmas tree lights are switched on by the mayor, the
president of THUNcity, and the florist who decorated the tree.
7:15 p.m. Music and open-air dining, thousands of lights
Highlight of the evening:
At 7 p.m., the moment finally arrives: St. Nicholas turns the key and the Christmas tree on the town hall square lights up in all its glory. This tree is a gift from the civic community of Thun and comes from a civic forest in Steffisburg.
The tree was decorated over several days with great love and dedication by Margrit Bieri, owner of Schlossgarten kreative Floristik GmbH, with the support of Franziska Stähli. In keeping with this year's theme of “Santa Claus,” the tree is decorated in festive shades of red and green with decorative elements such as Santa Claus, a reindeer, and mistletoe.
The event is free and open to everyone.
The Christmas tree will be on display in all its glory on the town hall square until January 6, spreading festive cheer throughout the picturesque town center of Thun.
